A Genetic Game of Feline Fur Patterns

This eLearning game uses familiar cat coat color traits to teach genetics skills. It includes catvatars (cat avatars), simulates a dating app, and offers a drag-and-drop kitten scenario for interactive learning. Originally developed for a non-majors biology class, the game benefits anyone curious about science.

This 3-credit hour semester course gives non-science majors a solid foundation in genetics and modern DNA science. It helps learners develop a curiosity for scientific discovery, gives them the skills to evaluate scientific advances in their day-to-day lives, and improves their critical thinking and communication skills.
